Blood Drive
|

Believe it or not,
the greatest gift one could ever give another
human being is absolutely free. It’s blood! When
we give blood, we give life. What greater gift
could we bestow upon a child than a chance to
live and experience all that life has to offer.
Each school day 48 children are diagnosed with
cancer. One in 330 children will develop cancer
by age 20. Cancer is the 2nd leading cause of
death among children ages 1 to 14 in the United
States. The most common cancers in children
(ages 1 to 14) are leukemia (particularly acute
lymphocytic leukemia), brain and other nervous
systems cancers, soft tissue sarcomas, bone
cancers, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and renal (Wilm’s)
tumors. All of which are usually treated with
very aggressive chemotherapy, radiation, and/or
surgery; which not only kills the cancer cells,
but depletes the healthy white & red blood cells
creating a serious need for blood in the body.
That’s why one of the primary goals of
BrittiCares is to host blood drives in
cooperation with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
and other medical facilities, to ensure that a
child who is already suffering a life
threatening disease, doesn’t succumb because
they were in dire need of blood during one of
their many health crisis, and the need was not
met.
To help spread the message of the importance of
donating blood and registering as a marrow
donor, we work with a number of celebrities
including Actor/Comedian Chris Tucker, Kyle
Massey of Disney’s “That’s So Raven” and “Corey
In The House”, Chris Massey of Nickelodeon’s
“Zoey 101”, and many others.

you too can participate in BrittiCares next
